Our MDF templates don't require a backing panel and can be painted whatever color the artist desires (or left tan colored). The template is ideal for making a colorful indoor lamp if filled using resin colored with transparent or translucent dyes.
Please Note that the MDF material doesn't do well when exposed to water, meaning that these products are not suitable for outdoor use.
The template makes a sphere approx. 6 inches in diameter. Each part is 3.2mm thick giving plenty of space for adding color. You could also use the template to make an uncolored lamp if you wanted to.
Our laser cut templates are simpler and more easy to use than our 3D printed templates. We recommend these templates be dipped in resin and stuck onto release film the day before coloring. Our release film (sold separately) is glossy so your finished work can be as transparent as possible. The embedded video shows an example of the template being used.

For the brief moment that it was put together it looked lovely.
Used tape to stabilise it when building it. Took tape off and it started to come apart.
I shall try again, I may use glue this time.
Please reach out by email or on chat Maura and provide photos so we can help trouble shoot the issue.. The parts should be a snug fit when pressed fully home. A touch of glue is a good idea if you want to resolve by yourself.
